Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking community support for our ongoing recovery and future responses to disasters.

The Community Recovery and Resilience project is designed to support a holistic approach to the recovery of our region, communities or sectors severely affected by Cyclone Debbie in March 2017.

Our strategy seeks to strengthen community members current recovery efforts and preparedness for future events. Our community was severely affected and needs to restore social networks, community functioning and a sense of safety.

The project is specifically aimed at community recovery, community development and community capacity building.


What type of disaster recovery and resilience training or activities would you like to attend?

  • Sandbagging
  • CPR Training (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
  • Generator Safety
  • Marine Safety (preparing for severe weather)
  • Business continuity planning
  • Recovery planning (medium to long term planning)
  • Lessons Learnt (Community Experience)
  • Recovery Matters (Recovery wellbeing sessions for the community)
