Living in the Whitsunday Region, we recognise that our community's inherent strength serves as a solid foundation for resilience against natural disasters.
The responsibility of being prepared for cyclones, flooding, and other potential threats, such as earthquakes, is an integral part of living in our cherished tropical paradise. We understand that these natural disasters are not a matter of if, but rather when they will occur. Recent years have shown us the profound impact that disasters can have on our community.
In response, Council is developing a Community Resilience Strategy that underscores our commitment to harnessing and enhancing the inherent strength of our community.
The central focus of our strategy is to safeguard the well-being of our community. We firmly believe in fostering partnerships with the community, actively seeking your feedback, and supporting local initiatives to achieve resilient outcomes.
We invite our community to participate in the survey below to help inform the development of our Strategy, so that we can help you be as prepared as possible to endure any natural disasters that come our way and respond appropriately in our recovery.
Everyone who goes in the survey will go in the draw to win a generator!
The closing date for this survey has been extended and will close at 4pm Monday 3rd July 2023.
