Council is seeking community feedback to help shape a new Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) Policy for major renewable energy projects in the Whitsundays.

This policy will guide how Council advocates for meaningful, long-term community benefits from large-scale renewable energy developments required to undertake a social impact assessment. While Council does not approve projects, the policy will help ensure local values and priorities are represented throughout the Queensland Government assessment process.

As renewable energy interest grows across the region, these projects can create both opportunities and impacts across housing, infrastructure, workforce, environment and local industries. The proposed policy will provide a transparent framework to help secure community outcomes if projects proceed.
