Consultation has concluded
The consultation has now concluded and Council is reviewing all submissions received. We thank everyone who took the time to provide feedback and will keep the community informed of the outcomes and next steps.
This policy will guide how Council advocates for meaningful, long-term community benefits from large-scale renewable energy developments required to undertake a social impact assessment. While Council does not approve projects, the policy will help ensure local values and priorities are represented throughout the Queensland Government assessment process.
As renewable energy interest grows across the region, these projects can create both opportunities and impacts across housing, infrastructure, workforce, environment and local industries. The proposed policy will provide a transparent framework to help secure community outcomes if projects proceed.
We invite the community to share their ideas through our online engagement portal or via hardcopy surveys available at Customer Service Centres. Community members can also meet the project team and learn more at upcoming consultation events:
Collinsville Shopping Centre - Wed 3 June - 10am - 2pm
Community Workshop - Proserpine Administration Building (83 Main St) - Thurs 4 June - 4:30pm - 6pm
Bowen Community Markets - Sunday 14 June - 7am - 12pm
Whitsunday Shopping Centre (Coles) - Thurs 11 June - 12pm - 5pm
