Whitsunday Regional Council is committed to maintaining and improving the region's road network to ensure safe, reliable and efficient transport connections for residents, businesses and visitors.

With more than 566 kilometres of sealed roads and almost 1,800 kilometres of roads across the Whitsunday Region, ongoing maintenance is essential to protecting the significant investment our community has made in local infrastructure.

As part of Council's annual road maintenance program, a number of roads throughout Bowen and Airlie Beach will undergo resealing works during June 2026. Road resealing is one of the most cost-effective ways to extend the life of existing road surfaces, improve driving conditions and reduce the need for more costly reconstruction works in the future.

The first stage of the program is scheduled as follows:

Bowen

16 JuneMount Nutt Road, Pantall Road
17 JuneWest Street, Argyle Park Road, Bull Crescent, Murroona Street, Poole Street, Gregory Street, Sinclair Street
18 JuneSinclair Street, Williams Street

Airlie Beach

19 JuneShute Harbour - Whitsunday Dr, Bay Terrace, Passage Ave,
Jubilee Pocket - Loop Rd

Additional roads within Gloucester, Bowen and the Airlie Beach surrounds are also scheduled as part of future stages of the 2025/26 Road Resealing Program. Further details and construction timing for these locations will be published as works are confirmed. Follow project updates (on the right) to stay up to date with future communications on the re-seal program.

View maps showing the proposed resealing locations to stay informed about upcoming works in your area.

While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, motorists may experience temporary traffic changes and minor delays during construction. Please follow all traffic management directions, observe reduced speed limits and drive to conditions when travelling through active work zones.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue investing in safer, smoother roads across the Whitsunday Region.
