We are excited to announce the adoption of our Whitsunday Regional Sports Precinct Master Plan, located opposite Brandy Creek Road on Council owned land. The new sports precinct is required to service the urgent need for additional sporting land for local clubs, with stage 1 of the plan co-funded for delivery by the Federal Government.

During the development of the Master Plan, Council interviewed over 38 different sporting bodies between Proserpine and Airlie Beach, to understand their needs, facility health and aspirations to re-locate to the new sportspark. This information is consolidated within the Whitsunday Regional Sports Precinct Consultation Report.

Subject to available budget to be defined by Stage 1 detailed design, anticipated pioneer clubs may include:

  • Whitsunday Netball
  • Football, consolidating Proserpine and Airlie Beach clubs
  • Whitsunday Touch
  • Cross country course
  • Tennis and pickleball

Note - Existing cane rail within the site will remain in operation.

Later stages, subject to growing population demands and further funding support may include:

  • Primary / high school land investigation area
  • BMX
  • Cricket
  • Equestrian
  • Athletics
  • Indoor sport multi-use facility
  • Council depot land investigation area
  • Enhanced Brandy Creek Wildlife corridor

'Follow project' to stay up to date with next steps in construction of the facility, anticipated for completion late 2027.
