Council has developed the Whitsunday Sustainable Events Guide that is composed of seven steps, including resources, links and tools for event planning and delivery to make it easy for every event to be more sustainable. The Guide is not compulsory but provides best practice tips to run an environmentally friendly event.
The first step provides regional information to help immerse event planners and their teams in the beauty of the Whitsundays and build understanding of why being sustainable is so important. The following steps provide detailed information on planning everything for events from transport to energy and waste. Step six provides information on how events can consider their carbon emissions, become carbon neutral and highlights opportunities for event certifications. Finally it is important for events to be socially and culturally sustainable by being inclusive!
We want to hear from event organisers, community stakeholders, businesses and events attendees to learn:
Have we missed anything?
What could make it easier / clearer to understand?
How do we encourage uptake of the guide by event planners/coordinators?
Have your say via the survey below, complete a survey at Customer Service Centres or email info@whitsundayrc.qld.gov.au before consultation closes on Sunday, 11 December.
