Community Catch-ups - What's on in your community!
Throughout 2023, Whitsunday Regional Council hosted several Community Catch-ups to better connect with our local communities, build relationships, share information and gather feedback on local issues.
We exploreed topics relevant to each local community, such as:
- Land & natural resource management,
- Infrastructure overview of local projects and annual budget items upcoming,
- Town planning overview of planning scheme amendments or local developments approved or under assessment,
- Consultation / education campaigns, and
- Anything else that you want to know - tell us below!

An area that needs attention is the boat trailer park at Molongle Creek and the boat wash down area.
The parking bays have developed low spots that hold water after rain. The wash down hard stand area is in poor shape and needs replacing with a concrete ramp so boats can be drained before leaving the park area. Thankyou Craig & Rhonda Harris. Ps. The New Facility building looks great.

Signage around Mount Coolon
Proposing a limit decrease to 60 through town along Bowen Developmental Rd. Also a 'SLOW' sign along dirt in town (such as Gordon St) to reduce the amount of dust created.

Clean up police creek
Last flood we had in mount coolon put all of us along gordon street in danger of police creek. Due to all scrub growing in the creek, we had the creek up to our houses. If the creek rose another half a meter it would be through our houses. We also got trapped in gordon street as you can see on the photo, the photo is the turn off from rutherford rd to gordon street.

Barker Park walkway Bowen would benefit from the planting of shade trees

New water fountains with dog bowls connected
Start of Rose Bay, Horseshoe Bay track. Also need a new drink fountain on the path leading from Barkers Park to the boat ramp the old one is disgusting.
