Consultation has concluded
We are undertaking works to amenities blocks at the Airlie Beach Lagoon, Cedar Creek Falls and Brandy Creek at the Great Whitsunday Walk Entrance.
Works may create impacts to residents, nearby businesses, tour operators and visitors. Below is a quick overview of each project and anticipated impacts.
The amenities upgrade will be closed in 2 stages to refurbish and repaint the facility from 9 October - 4 December (8 weeks).
Works will include new pavements, new shower, refurbished toilets, new water drinking facilities, increased change room size, upgraded disabled toilet and parent room facilities.
A temporary amenities block with parent facilities and disabled portaloo will be provided during construction.
Majority of the facilities (stage 1) will be re-opened after a month of work.
Construction will commence to create a new amenities block and car parking from 2 October - late October, subject to weather.
Works include the creation of a new amenities block and decommissioning of the old amenities block, which will be replaced with 13 additional car parks.
The existing amenities block will remain open until the new amenities block is completed. Once the new amenities block is open, works will commence to decommission the old amenities and cut / retain the site for the creation of 13 new car parks.
Works are supported by the Queensland Government's Works for Queensland Grant Program.
Brandy Creek Amenities
Complete
Please also be aware that we are creating new amenities at the Brandy Creek Great Whitsunday Walk entrance. Works will commence from 27 September to early October.
Currently no facilities exist to service the Great Whitsunday Walk, so this will benefit users and events, such as Whitsunday Trailfest.
Construction will not impact users.
Works are supported by the Queensland Government's Works for Queensland Grant Program.
