Bushfires are a natural part of the Australian landscape and have the potential to cause serious social, economic and environmental damage, if not managed correctly.

A draft Airlie Beach Community Bushfire Management Plan has been developed with an aim of identifying the actions required to reduce bushfire hazard in the Airlie Beach and surrounding area for the next 10 years (2022-2032).

This Bushfire Plan is specifically written for the Airlie Beach residents and stakeholders. The Airlie Beach Fire Plan area covers the land between Eshelby Road at Cannonvale to Jubilee Pocket and covers 295 hectares.

The objectives of this Plan include:

  • Identify where fire lines are required to protect life and property from fire
  • Outline methods that could be used to reduce bushfire hazard
  • Improve community awareness
  • Maintain coordination and communication between landowners
  • Description of a maintenance program to manage bushfire hazard and risk.
