Consultation has concluded

Whitsunday Regional Council asked the community late 2017 for input into the development of a historic memory trail, to be created with signage along Queens Beach Esplanade between Mt Nutt Road and Yasso Point.

A joint initiative between Council and the Bowen Lions community group, the project will be completed alongside upgrades to the walking and cycling network under the State Government’s Works for Queensland funding, which aims to boost the economy by providing jobs to local businesses.

Have your say

Residents are being asked to contribute suggestions for local historic icons and events to be recognised along the signage trail.

The signage could show historic stories and iconic events from Bowen’s history, or even feature local heroes and famous residents.

Ideas can be contributed to Council online below, at the public display stalls or by handing in your submission to our Customer Service Centres.

Community consultation began Friday 17 November and closed on Tuesday 12 December 2017.

Leave your suggestions and stories below, or visit Council staff in person at the following Public Displays :

  • 9am to 1pm, Friday 24 November – Gideon Pott Park, Queens Beach

  • 9am to 1pm, Wednesday 29 November – Centre Point Plaza
