Whitsunday Regional Council is asking for feedback on proposed changes to two Local Laws.

Subordinate Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2019:

Subordinate Local Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas, Facilities and Roads) 2019:


Some of the major changes include:

  • Changes to address potential anti-competitive local laws;
  • Changes to the laws governing the Lake Proserpine dam area, including allowing camping, and the sale of goods and commodities;
  • Changes to waste management regulations for commercial premises;
  • Changes to laws governing roadside vendors;
  • Changes to laws governing the regulation of Water Parks in the region.

    Thank you for your question. The Public Interest Test Plans outline the analysis of potential anti-competitive local laws, on pages 1 - 3. A table called 'Annexure A' at the very end of each document outlines the specific provisions. Please refer to the documents to answer your query as they are covered in specific detail here.
