Whitsunday Regional Council is taking care of the foreshore area at Whitsunday Paradise in Bowen, by developing a 5 year Management Plan for the area.

The foreshore reserve is zoned for both recreation and environment, and contains sections of littoral rainforest or ‘beach scrub’ which is classified as endangered.

Council is proposing to rehabilitate sections of the foreshore and leave areas of the foreshore open for recreational community use.

Council wants to ensure this important ecosystem is rehabilitated and protected for future generations. Vegetation on coastal dune systems play an important role in protecting the coastline from erosion and storm surge, while also providing habitat for coastal plants and animals.
