FAQ
Will pedestrians be able to access shops during works?
Yes, when major footpath works are underway, a ramp will be fitted over the footpath allowing access. These ramps will be fully compliant and accessible for all. WRC will not be blocking access to shops.
Will there be any road closures?
No, WRC will not need to close the main street as the majority of works are in the footpath area. There may be some temporary lane closures while work occurs in the centre medians, if required.
What type of footpath is going in?
We will be laying down new footpaths between the Bruce Highway and Herbert Street, and between Chapman Street and the Post Office. The new footpaths will be exposed aggregate concrete, similar to the footpath between Herbert Street and Chapman Street.
Are there new plants and trees going in?
Yes, WRC will be putting in new trees at the entry into Proserpine from the Bruce Highway, as part of the new entry statements. Smaller trees and shrubs will be planted throughout the main street in the garden beds and centre medians. Existing healthy plants will remain in the garden beds where possible.
