We are developing a Whitsunday Regional Council Environment Strategy, to identify existing and potential threats to Whitsunday environmental values, identify actions to reduce the threats and develop priority focus areas for the Council and Whitsunday industry stakeholders. To develop the Strategy, we are forming a reference group, the Environment Advisory Group, to assist in the identification of issues and actions for consideration in the Strategy.
The first physical meeting (and online) will be scheduled around the 19th of September. Should you agree to assist Council in guiding environmental priorities across the region, the Council requests that you send a confirmation email accepting the invitation to:
The next step in the process is to request that you complete a short 5 minute online survey (below) to gather important regional environmental issues and priorities from your perspective. This pre-strategy survey will close 9 September 2025.
The information gathered from this survey will be considered during the development of the draft Environment Strategy. The results of the survey will be discussed at the first Environment Advisory Group meeting on or about the 19th of September, in Proserpine Administration Building.
Further consultation on the draft Strategy with the broader community is anticipated in October - November 2025.
