Thank you for participating in our recent consultation process regarding mountain bike trails in the Whitsunday region.
94% of people who participated in our recent consultation are happy with the proposed Whitsunday Trails concepts.
Council has endorsed the final Plan and will continue to liaise with key stakeholders and advocate for government funding to complete Stage 1.
We recently prepared a Whitsunday Trails Concept Plan, proposing several mountain bike trails across the region.
Mountain bike trails are growing in popularity around the world, with other tourism destinations in Australia receiving tens of thousands of visitors, and millions of dollars, every year from visiting bike riders. Mountain bike trails are also a key land-based tourism activity, providing tourists an option for non-water based activities.
Stage 1 of the project includes around 50km of new mountain bike trails located in the Conway National Park near Airlie Beach.
The trail concepts for South Molle Island, Bowen, Proserpine and Collinsville will be considered for future stages of the project.
