Thank you for your interest. This consultation has concluded.
Council is developing an Open Space Strategy and accompanying Open Space Design Guideline to inform investment in future parks and private development providing open space.
The project involves the creation of new desired standards of service for how and where sport and recreation parks are provided that are regionally specific, in comparison to Council’s existing standards, which are bench-marked against metropolitan centres.
To inform the strategy and guidelines, the short survey below will collect information on sport participation, club diversity and competitions within the Whitsunday Region.
Please note: Council is particularly interested in the year to year trends and needs of Sports Parks and Sports Clubs and understand that these may have been significantly impacted by the on-going COVID-19 conditions. When undertaking the survey please provide answers based on pre-COVID-19 circumstances, as our network planning is unlikely to be affected by these conditions in the long-term.
Are you a Sports Park or Sports Club manager?
Please take the short survey below to help us with this critical planning for the future, to understand the existing capacity and expected growth of sporting facilities in the region.
Council will use the responses to this survey to guide future decision-making around securing land and developing sporting facilities that best meet the needs of the community over the next twenty years.
We will be looking at this information in context with projected population growth, participation rates, competition spread and current standards for sporting facilities.
The survey will be open until 7 August 2020.
